Munich, Germany – 18 January 2021 – The acquisition of Cypress positions Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) as one of the world’s top 10 semiconductor manufacturers. It adds a differentiated portfolio of microcontrollers, connectivity components, software ecosystems and high-performance memories that are highly complementary to the leading power semiconductors, automotive microcontrollers, sensors and security solutions. Being at the core of each connected and smart device, semiconductors enable the IoT. Infineon now offers the industry’s most comprehensive portfolio that acts as the link between the real and the digital world – comprising an unparalleled range of hardware, software and security solutions for the connected age. The IoT portfolio of the “new” Infineon will be on display for the first time at the virtual Embedded Solutions Conference 2021 (ESC21).
From 1-5 March 2021, visitors are invited to an informative and interactive ESC21 that builds on Infineon’s extensive experience with past virtual trade shows. In addition to a live stage with more than 50 expert talks and product presentations, they can now define their topics of interest and time zone for a more personalized experience. More than 80 Infineon experts can be booked for one-on-one discussions, with options to filter by time zone and topic, too. Visitors will be guided through the digital booth with the help of application highlight areas for smart car, smart home & smart building, smart things and smart factory. Special sections on data infrastructure, software tools and a virtual maker’s corner are also available.
Smart car
Reflecting the growing demand for safer, greener, connected mobility experiences, Infineon’s semiconductor technologies are already helping to design the smart car of the future. Advanced solutions combine AURIX microcontrollers with sensor fusion to build more and more artificial intelligence into automotive designs on the road to fully automated driving. In addition to advanced driver assistance features such as fail-operational electric power steering, Infineon’s embedded solutions also bring new levels of in-cabin comfort and infotainment to today’s drivers, making use of the TRAVEO II family based on the Arm ® Cortex ® M4F and dual Cortex ® M7F architecture. Regarding security, the quality-hardened, tamper-resistant OPTIGA TPM SLI 9670 is optimized for critical applications such as telematics control units and connected gateways, while the automotive-grade eSIM solution is the perfect fit for telematics use cases such as emergency call (eCall) and vehicle-to-cloud (V2X) communication.
Smart home & smart building
The smart home & smart building area covers the digitalization of both private homes and non-residential buildings. Smart home solutions increase convenience through features such as automatic temperature and light control, as well as video monitoring. At the same time, they help save energy. Infineon offers a broad portfolio of products to make buildings smart, including XENSIV sensors for data collection, leading power MOSFETs and drivers for power-efficient devices. The portfolio also includes microcontrollers for data processing and analyses on the edge, as well as security ICs, developed with proven expertise, for the protection of IoT devices against threats. Additionally, Infineon has decades of expertise in common building automation domains, such as lighting and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
Smart factory
Guests at the virtual booth can discover how the latest chip technologies embedded into innovative mechanical modules are paving the way for highly reliable and energy-efficient electric drive solutions in smart factories. Infineon complements its portfolio of sensors, XMC microcontrollers and iMOTION motor control devices with hardware-based security solutions from the OPTIGA TPM and OPTIGA Trust families to protect IoT devices, secure sensitive data, safeguard IP and avoid unplanned downtime. Highlights include a security solution jointly developed with PrimeKey to support the unique identification and authentication of drones in no-flight zones.
Smart things + data infrastructure
At Infineon’s Embedded Solutions Conference 2021, visitors can experience how powerful microcontroller and security sensor solutions translate to a sustainable and convenient lifestyle, enabling applications such as wireless charging, energy-efficient wearables and the latest consumer devices. They all profit from the Arm ® Cortex ® based PSoC ® family as well as from Infineon’s Wi-Fi ® and Bluetooth ® solutions. In addition, data centers and communication infrastructure for smart cars, buildings and factories are the backbone of the IoT. At the center is 5G, which enables significantly higher data transmission and extremely fast response. Embedded security solutions from Infineon such as Trusted Platform Modules (TPM) answer the demand for reliable ICT security.
